SeekingClarity (aka Kate) and I just talked for about ten minutes and let me just say, there is no barrier between America and Canada that is not covered with a laugh, a joke, and a quick explaination about the Canadian Loonie and Twoonie!
So at around 10:55pm (Eastern Standard Time.... for you know who) or 8:55pm (Mountain Time) I used a phone card provided by none other than the beautiful MsDania (aka Dania) to speak to Kate. I was expecting to have someone else to answer the phone and then to get the awkward response of "Who is this?" and pronouning my name to someone who does not know me is hard enough let alone to someone who has seen the spelling of my name through my blog. But luckily I was able to get Kate right off the bat and did not have to wait in a stupid silence while listening to someone screaming her name.Even though I had just talked to her some 20 minutes ago, what we first talked about is starting to fade but I will try to recall every moment in my play-by-play of the American-Canadian Phone War (it's catchy!)
Her voice really caught me off guard. I was expecting a really heavy Texas accent, since where Kate is from is not that far off from Texas, but I got a voice that was sweet, cute, adorable, and every other synonmym to adorable you can think of. It just made the rest of the talk that much more enjoyable.
So to start off I explained why I had called (which was a silly reason). I called for Dania before and since I left a message saying it was me I "felt obligated" to call back. It was something along those lines, or maybe Dania told me to call, but they are almost the same so I will just continue on with the story of my silly talk. And in an odd circumstance of chance I began to explain how here in Canada there are no $1 bills but are instead coins which we call loonies as well as $2 coins which we call twoonies. However we came to talking about the coins, do not ask me but we did. We then moved on to talking about:
- her work and my work situations
- the number of people living in her town (which I can estimate is greater then 1,000 but less than 100,000)
- school and the differences in post-secondary education between America and Canada
- the way that I love how her theatre in town has only 3 operating screens
- how she loves snow and I would just love for it to stop snowing which lead to an agreement that she will have to come to Canada to just be snowed in
- Oh, she also was amazed by my voice or my Canadian accent, which I really could not notice since we sounded amazingly alike (She pronounes Dania like "Dunia".... giggle
)
And I also made her laugh with this one. I asked her how her schedule was for school and she told me that she had a 6 hour day, with 6 one hour long courses in each day. So, before she would begin in explaining her day as it would happen, I took a paper and jotted down each course as she said it and here it is:
- Yoga
- US History
- Math Analysis
- English 3 (3rd level)
- Adv. Placement Biology
- Chemistry
And I analyzed it like this. At first she is tired for the day but with 1. Yoga she is able to stretch out and get to her center self which would strengthen her and make her more "awake". Then with 2. US History, she would get tired all over again followed by 3. Math Analysis which may be taught by a lesbian which would either make her more tired or more awake (dependant on her asphyxiation on lesbians that day). Next she has 5. Adv. Placement Biology which she is just amazed with since she loves that class, so she wakes up all over again. And finally with 6. Chemistry she falls back to sleep. And that was my analysis which WAS PERFECT!!!!
So, that is what we talked about in the span of ten minutes if you want to believe it! So, that is my blog, respond if you want.... if not, then, um, don't. :S
